Each Tuesday at Clarke Road School, students participate in a ‘Corner Shop’ activity to help support and develop students’ money skills. It is currently run by a parent volunteer. The Corner Shop simulates a real-world shop environment.
Students come across to the canteen in their class groups and take it in turns to purchase an item from the shop. They work on skills such as turn taking, making a choice of an item, using a wallet, handing over a $1 coin and saying/signing please/thank you. At Clarke Road School, we understand the importance of providing our students with opportunities to be independent and to work on life skills from an early age.
