At our school, we teach the NSW curriculum and offer many different subjects to support each student’s learning. We know that development of skills in literacy and numeracy are the building blocks for learning and for everyday life. Our teachers use effective teaching strategies to help students achieve their goals.

Meaningful learning

At Clarke Road School we are proud of our academic success. We provide a learning environment that is vibrant, fun and academically rigorous. Our students range in age from Kindergarten through to Year 12.

We understand that your child’s learning needs are unique and recognise you as one of the experts in the planning of your child’s program.

The staff at Clarke Road School is at the forefront of current best practices in special education. Your child’s educational program will have a strong focus on literacy and numeracy and of course communication.

Students learn in class groups, with each class supported by a special education teacher and a School Learning Support officer (SLSO).

Your child's learning journey

All students at Clarke Road School work towards educational outcomes and content consistent with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) syllabus documents.  For most students with special education needs, additional accommodations and adjustments are negotiated to meet student learning needs.  Most students with special education needs will meet curriculum requirements by participating fully in a broad array of learning experiences.  Clarke Road School implements the Australian Curriculum.  The range of learning activities offered to students aims to challenge their thinking, development and help them reach their full potential.

Your child will have a  Personalised Learning and Support Plan (PLSP)  that sits within the Australian curriculum. You will be part of the team designing and reviewing your child’s learning plan. We will prioritise learning areas that are highly relevant for your child.

Accommodations and adjustments are made to the Australian curriculum to meet the needs of your child.

At Clarke Road School assessment and reporting is on-going. We will work closely with you to ensure you are engaged in consultation and that you understand how your child is progressing.

Assessment and Reporting

Our teachers use a variety of strategies to assess student learning. These include observing work in class and looking closely at tasks throughout the year.

Students will receive a half-yearly and yearly report documenting their learning achievements.
